Doug McCain, the eldest son of the late Sen. John McCain, has died.
He was 66.

Meghan McCain shared the news of her brother’s death on social media, saying it had been sudden. But no further details were given.
She said her brother was a “truly wonderful, joyful man” who supported her throughout her life. “He brought humor, fun and great conversation to every room,” she continued.

McCain was a Navy pilot like his father, and spent six years flying A-6 Intruders before beginning a long career with American Airlines, according to an online obituary.

The obituary states he died on May 20.
He was married for 40 years and leaves behind two children and one grandchild.
The McCain Institute, a nonprofit in Washington, D.C. that was launched after his father’s 2008 presidential campaign, said Doug “will be remembered as a patriot and friend to the many alumni of Sen. McCain’s Institute, campaigns and Senate staff.”
John McCain died in 2018 after battling brain cancer for more than a year. He was 81.
