The Federal Aviation Administration issued a full ground stop Tuesday evening for all American Airlines flights still on the ground.

The ground stop was attributed to an IT outage, according to an FAA advisory. The airline described it as a system wide outage and said it was working to restore everything as quickly as possible.

No other details on the outage were immediately available.

In a follow-up post around 7:20 p.m., the airline said systems were coming back online and that flights were starting to depart again.

“We put a temporary ground stop in place while our teams worked to resolve the issue. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” the post said.
