The man accused of killing Charlie Kirk is back in court on Friday as his attorneys seek to hold prosecutors in contempt for comments they made in the media about a bullet fragment recovered from Kirk\u2019s body.\u00a0<\/p>

Tyler Robinson\u2019s defense attorneys accused prosecutors of going on a “media tour” to talk about the bullet and claimed it violated restrictions that the case should not be spoken about outside of court.\u00a0<\/p>

Prosecutors said they had a right to speak about the case in order to correct misinformation given out by Robinson\u2019s attorneys.<\/p>

What they’re saying:<\/p>

Prosecutors claimed the ballistic information that was shared was preliminary and inconclusive.\u00a0<\/p>

The expert provided claimed they could not immediately match the bullet fragments with a gun allegedly used by Robinson.\u00a0<\/p>

Prosecutors claimed the information given out by Robinson\u2019s attorneys spurred stories that speculated about their client\u2019s possible exoneration.<\/p>

“The rules expressly allow lawyers to set the record straight,” Deputy Utah County Attorney Christopher Ballard wrote.<\/p>

What’s next:<\/p>

Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty if Robinson is convicted. He has not yet entered a plea.<\/p>

A key hearing in the case is scheduled for next month, when prosecutors must show they have enough evidence to warrant a trial.\u00a0<\/p>

Robinson\u2019s attorneys have asked the judge to halt the proceedings while they appeal a June 1 order in which the judge declined to bar cameras from the courtroom.<\/p>

The backstory:<\/p>

Kirk was speaking to a crowd of about 3,000 people at Utah Valley University in Orem when investigators say Robinson fired a single shot from a building about 140 yards away, striking Kirk, 31, and killing him.\u00a0 Robinson, 22, is charged with aggravated murder for the killing of Kirk<\/u> and could face the death penalty if convicted. ‘<\/p>
