A donkey in northern Germany jumped into a van Friday, kicking and biting two motorists and a woman who intervened to try and help.Â
The wild incident happened in Holssel, south of the coastal city of Cuxhaven.

What we know:
According to Cuxhaven police, passersby noticed Freddy the donkey and a horse running loose in a roundabout. When the two motorists tried to secure the donkey, it “became very aggressive” and jumped into the van, police said.Â

A 33-year-old woman jumped in and tried to help, but she, too, was attacked and had to go to the hospital. The two motorists sustained minor injuries.Â
The animal’s owner eventually intervened to secure the animal, Cuxhaven police said.Â
What we don’t know:
“The reason for the animal’s aggressive reaction is still unclear,” the statement said.
